The hot days of summer are here – earlier than we expected – and the holidays are still late… Before June even comes, you will surely have started thinking about how to survive the following months due to the already high temperatures. And since it is not always possible to escape to a nearby beach, we have gathered the miraculous tips that will give you some cool repose in the hot city. Remember that proper hydration is everything, but from there on there are solutions that you may not have thought of until now.
So, check out the ultimate survival guide for the hottest days of summer in the city. You can follow it whenever you feel the need from now on!
1. Proper nutrition for hydration
Hydration during this period, as always, is everything! It is important to make some changes to your eating plan that will keep you cool and hydrated. Of course, fruits – even smoothies – and vegetables are a must at any time of the day. In the meantime, avoid foods that are high in fat and do not forget to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. Drink water, lots of water. In summer we can generally drink a lot of fluids and get confused. From juices to coffees and more. But it does not mean that we are hydrated. Do not take water out of your daily routine.
Add a little more salt to your food to keep your body fluids in balance after heavy sweating (this guideline does not apply if you have high blood pressure).
2. Cold shower and skincare products for external hydration
Obviously, skin hydration is just as important and a process that should not be neglected. What does this mean in practice? Take a cool shower every morning before getting dressed. It will keep you in balance for several hours during the day. A cold shower every morning is all it takes to get your day off to a great start. The same goes for the night, before you fall asleep, but during the day, whenever you find some time. Also, do not forget your moisturizer for the face and body, because both the sun and the sea dehydrate the skin. Do not neglect your sunscreen throughout the day!
3. Lose the warm fabrics
The fabric is what makes the difference and we do not feel hot. If you have not already done so, refresh your closet and fill it with light pieces that will not burden you in the slightest. Wear comfortable clothes made of natural materials (eg cotton, silk), which allow your body to breathe, do not put pressure on you and do not cause discomfort. Avoid synthetic fabrics, because they cause more sweating and do not absorb sweat and lock your favorite black and dark clothes in your closet for a few months, because they absorb radiation and thus raise body temperature. Linen fabric, for example, is what you need, both for all day, casual outfits and more formal. Airy choices will become your favorites and will accompany you until the first days of autumn. What is more, do not forget your sunglasses and hat!
4. Work in the coolest hours of the day
The truth is that from morning to afternoon, the temperatures are in their pick and extremely dangerous for you. As already mentioned, if there is no serious reason to be out in the sun, prefer to go out late in the afternoon or even in the evening, when the sun has set and the temperature has dropped – even slightly. In addition, say yes to going out after work for a refreshing cocktail!
5. Save some time for mini getaways
It may still be early for vacation, but now is the time for mini getaways, even close to town. Even if it is difficult for you to be away from home for many hours and your obligations in the city, you can visit a nearby swimming pool of a luxury hotel and have an equally nice time, relax and cool down.
We hope the tips above will help you survive and stay cool for another hot summer in the city.
